Manager, Biostatistics - Shared Vision Management Search

Position Description

The Manager, Biostatistics will be responsible for all operations within the biostatistics team. This individual will be the direct supervisor of the Clinical Data Scientist – Biostatistician.

Responsibilities:
1. General administration
- Follow corporate policies
- Attend company meetings
2. General Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs
- Develop and review department-specific SOPs
- Follow SOPs during the performance of all tasks
3. Job-Specific
- Ensure all biostatistics activities are carried out to the highest quality standards
- Supervise and support Biostatistics staff
- Track study progress against established timelines and budgets
- Manage studies by adjusting priorities and workloads, as required, to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets set by company and the sponsor
- Provide responsive communication, both externally with international partners and sponsors and internally with staff
- Participate in statistical aspects of client/potential client audits and business development activities (e.g., proposal preparation and bid defence meetings) as necessary
- Offer biostatistical perspective for clinical trial issues to clients, partners and internal groups
4. Managerial and Supervisory
- Coordinate staffing (hiring and firing of biostatistics personnel
- Complete annual performance reviews for members of the team
- Document and resolve disciplinary issues as required
- Propose salary increases in conjunction with performance reviews

Qualifications:
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics
- Biomedical background (e.g., B.Sc., Nursing, Pharmacy)
- Experience in the therapeutic areas of Cardiology and/or Oncology highly preferred
- 3 years related experience in clinical trials or equivalent combination of education and biomedical experience
- Understanding of statistical theory and methods, including, but not limited to, parametric and non-parametric hypothesis tests, regression, ANOVA and survival analysis
- Minimum four (4) years SAS experience
- Experience in a supervisory role
- Ability to travel when required
