Position Description

Genomic Health, Inc., a life science company founded in August of 2000 and located in Redwood City, California, conducts sophisticated genomic research to develop clinically validated molecular diagnostics, which provide individualized information on the likelihood of disease recurrence and response to certain types of therapy. These diagnostic technologies generate information that healthcare providers and patients can use in making treatment decisions, empowering patients with more treatment options.

Overview:

The Associate Director of Information Technology Program Management will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and integration of Genomic Health software engineering, database engineering and information systems projects. The Associate Director will facilitate the management of requirements, priorities, timelines, and milestones for information technology projects across the organization. The ideal candidate will have proven technology project management experience and have an excellent understanding of all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). The Associate Director will help coordinate information technology activities across the business including: Corporate, Development, Research, and Commercial Operations projects. The position will work closely with the Sr. Director, Computing and IT and will be responsible for managing a team of technical Program Managers and Program Associates and help them successfully define and achieve project goals and objectives. This individual will assist in deploying new project planning and development processes and help to remove logistical and technical roadblocks and bottlenecks.


Responsibilities:

* Serve as the Information Technology Program representative in Program Management Meetings and Business Review meetings where Information Technology projects are discussed and prioritized
* Work closely with the Sr. Director of Information Technology and IT leadership team to ensure that all software engineering and information technology projects are identified, scoped, prioritized, and resourced effectively
* Hire and manage cross-functional Program Managers/Program Associates in support of Corporate, Development, Research, and Commercial Operations technology projects and teams
* Ensure that Development programs have adequate IT representation and that information technology tasks and milestones are consistently integrated into development timelines
* Participate in high-level requirement reviews, technical design reviews, quality assurance planning, documentation and training planning
* Facilitate the definition of operational requirements, technical requirements, and phasing for technology initiatives
* Presentation of project plans, prioritization recommendations, and program revisions to various level of management and team members
* Ensure that project processes and project documentation are created and maintained in accordance with established corporate guidelines.
* Integrate, track, and manage multiple interdisciplinary projects to successful completion
* Communicating status, issues and risks to project stakeholders and senior management



Qualifications:

*
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer science, related technical degree or equivalent experience is required
*
Eight years of experience in project management, resource allocation, timeline estimation, project planning methods, and tools. Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Project, Excel or equivalent
*
Comprehensive understanding of all phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance
*
Ability to work on interdisciplinary teams, a successful track record of leadership experience, and evidence of successful delivery of commercial grade software solutions or products
*
Proven ability to collaborate with the Software Engineering and Quality Assurance team members to ensure software development life-cycle best practices, improve quality, and efficiency
*
Strong technical background and ability to participate effectively in detailed software requirements discussions, design reviews, and code reviews
*
Excellent organizational and time management skills
*
Excellent communication and presentation skills
*
Experience working in regulated healthcare, laboratory, or manufacturing environment is a plus
*
Experience as a manager of a functional area or multiple subordinates is desirable
*
Strong communicator with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees, managers and customers as needed
*
Able to integrate and apply feedback in a professional manner
*
Able to prioritize and drive to results with a high emphasis on quality
*
