Position Details:
The scientist will culture a variety of different cell types and carry out laboratory assays associated with the development of new custom media formulations and processes for the PD-Direct Bioservices clients. In addition the scientist will perform application studies using cell and molecular biology techniques, cell growth and productivity assays in small scale bioreactors.
Education Requirements:
BS or MS in Biochemical Engineering, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline is required. Experience in culture of BioProduction-relevant cells (eg, CHO, NS0, HEK 293, etc) will be given consideration as an alternative to an advanced degree.
Experience Requirements:
• Experience (2-3 years) in industrial or academic focused research and/or development
• Product development experience (2-3 years) is desirable in cell culture / biotech / biopharm.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Expected Behavior and Functions to perform:
• Develop and qualify new new media, processes and assays.
• Lead projects and interact with different services and product development teams.
• Communication abilities to perform scientific documentation, presentation and publication.
• Maintain accurate lab notebook and training file in accordance with relevant Invitrogen required standards to support patent application and defense as well as other international standards (e.g., ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements, etc.).
• Design experimental plans, lead study execution, analyze experimental data, generate laboratory protocols and write interim and final technical reports. Create experimental designs and solve problems.
• Provide technical support to QC and manufacturing.

Willingness to travel if/when needed (0 – 5%)
