Ready for an international marketing challenge? A mid-size biopharmaceutical company is looking for someone to lead their new global product planning function. If you have a strategic orientation and enjoy a creative challenge, this could be the opportunity for you.
This highly profitable multinational organization has operations in 30 countries and is expanding their commercial organization in order to capitalize on double-digit revenue growth. This is a well-established, stable drug company that focuses on specialty therapeutic areas rather than primary care, and they have an exciting work environment where their teams have unusually strong personal chemistry. With nine commercialized products and many more in various stages of clinical development they are poised for rapid growth, and they now need a Global Director of New Product Planning to help take them to the next level.
The Role:
In this newly created position you will have the opportunity to develop the global strategy for a line of dermatological products. Reporting to the Global Vice President, you will serve as the commercial lead for the New Products team and be responsible for all pre-launch marketing activities for your franchise. Specific duties include life cycle management, positioning, reimbursement planning and though leader development, among other things. This strategic assignment will require significant business analysis and market research (primary and secondary), and a solid understanding of market trends and forecasting techniques.
The Director will also have the opportunity to direct cross-functional teams of colleagues from Finance, Regulatory, Sales and Medical Affairs, and you will work closely with country-specific marketing managers. It will require the ability to interact effectively with colleagues from many cultures and backgrounds. Significant international travel is required; overnight travel is estimated at 40-50%.
This is a relatively small New Products marketing team and you will be asked to “wear many hats” including leading project teams that develop positioning strategies, product profiles, and sales forecasts. You will also coordinate with the Business Development group on the evaluation of licensing and co-promotion deals. Without an existing blueprint for this position you will have the opportunity to shape the overall job description to a certain extent, and there is significant opportunity for evolving in this role into a leadership.
Requirements Needed to be Successful:
The successful candidate will have the following qualities:
· 7+ years of total biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience
· 4+ years of experience in New Product Planning or Pipeline Marketing that includes pre-launch strategic planning
· Extensive experience with primary and secondary market research sources, as well as forecasting techniques
· Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA is preferred
· Strong leadership skills with an ability to set a vision and lead change
The compensation plan includes an extremely competitive base salary plus incentive-plan bonus, company car, and a generous benefits package. Full relocation benefits will be provided.
