Position Description

Position Summary
The Chemical Sales Specialist is responsible for sales and developing new business for the biopharmaceutical and microelectronic product lines and/or services throughout Southern California.

Key duties
• Manage and grow existing accounts with manufacturers and laboratories in the pharmaceutical, microelectronic, medical device and environmental industry offering process materials, laboratory chemicals, and associated chemical management services.
• Develop new business at existing accounts and prospects
• Build customer relationships that enhance our position and profitability
• Work with manufacturer sales representatives
• Meet sales quotas
• Identify business opportunities in new markets consistent with biopharmaceutical and microelectronic product applications
• Help identify new products, services, and vendors to expand product portfolio

Education and Experience Required
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in appropriate specialty (preference for marketing or business)
• 3 or more years of proven business development, sales and closing experience
• A strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and/or microelectronic industry and of chemistry to be able to serve as a resource for our clients and effectively present information to engineers, managers and purchasing agents / managers.
• Fluency in technology and chemistry (specific knowledge of biotechnology and microelectronics is beneficial)
• Presentation skills to convey technical information to small and large groups.
• Balanced skill set including strong analytical, writing and creative skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple and diverse projects
• Ability to effectively interact with other disciplines within the Company such as marketing, customer service and accounting.
• Ability to appropriately represent Company to internal and external clients.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with effective strategies for interacting with a wide variety of audiences.
• Proficient computer skills (including Microsoft Office, email, PowerPoint and spreadsheet analysis)
• Willingness and availability to travel overnight 1-3 days per month to visit customers, supplier facilities, and attend trade shows
• No Supervisory Responsibilities
