Our client is a highly regarded development stage Australian biotech company. The company’s mission is to become a leading discoverer of targeted small molecule therapeutics for cancer, as well as immune and cardiovascular disease, delivering drug candidates at various stages of clinical development.


THE ROLE

• The CSO role, based in Australia, is strategically important and requires leadership, vision and a blend of business savvy and technical expertise in order to be effective in interfacing with key executives both within the organization and externally. The CSO will be responsible for achieving company objectives through the successful selection, scheduling and coordination of research programs through formal pre-clinical stage programs. He or she will be responsible for the leadership of the scientific research program from discovery stage to formal pre-clinical into the clinic and will also be responsible for the development of the longer term scientific strategy, in support of the overall business strategy.

EXPERIENCE

• The successful candidate must have substantial early clinical experience, be broadly skilled, commercially focused and bring scientific validity to the company’s developmental programs. Between 10 and 15 years experience in a research environment, including commercial experience of not less than five years, preferably in pharma or large biotech. Significant publication record in peer reviewed journals and patent record highly regarded. Strong familiarity with validation of drug targets and the drug development process.

EDUCATION
• PhD in appropriate scientific discipline (biologic sciences)
