Investigational compounds are being studied for patients with incurable hematological and solid tumor cancers, including multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, chronic lymphocyte leukemia (CLL), non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), glioblastoma, and ovarian, pancreatic, lung and prostate cancer, and inflammatory disorders. The postdoctoral fellow will play a role in Celgene research and development efforts and will be interested in pioneering various aspects of target protein quantification with mass spectrometry. The program offers an opportunity to make scientific discoveries which hold promise both for new drug development and for publication in scientific journals. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: This position will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research to apply mass spectrometry of proteins in preclinical and clinical studies. - Design and conduct original research related to one or more Celgene programs - Carry out both independent research and work as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team - Conduct experimental work to support ongoing and future preclinical and clinical trials - Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present work at scientific meetings Skills/Knowledge Required: Applicants should have completed a recent Ph.D. in the biological sciences in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, mass spectrometry or related areas, with an emphasis in protein quantification by mass spectrometry. Successful candidates will be independent, creative researchers, capable of working efficiently with colleagues as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team, and enthusiastic about opportunities for scientific research in the biopharmaceutical industry. Outstanding laboratory capabilities and strong presentation and organizational skills are required. A graduate thesis and/or publications in peer-reviewed journals in application of mass spectrometry for protein identification and/or quantitation are highly desirable.
