Illumina ($ILMN) CEO Jay Flatley has shared details of Project Firefly, the genomic leader's move into semiconductor-based sequencing. At a presentation at Advances in Genome Biology and Technology attended by GenomeWeb, Flatley said the sequencing device is a CMOS sensor with nanowells. In early internal tests, the device achieved 99% raw read accuracy, putting it in the same league as the HiSeq X system. Article (reg. req.)
