After kicking off the year with the acquisition of BioReliance Holdings and the launch of a new 270,000-square-foot facility in Taiwan, Sigma-Aldrich Fine Chemicals (SAFC) shows no signs of slowing down in the springtime. The custom manufacturing and services unit of life sciences colossus Sigma-Aldrich ($SIAL) has welcomed Research Organics into its growing pharma family.
Based in St. Louis and with outposts in nearly 40 countries, Sigma-Aldrich acquired the Cleveland-based Research Organics with the hope it will help expand Sigma-Aldrich's production capacity and existing raw materials portfolio. Just one year shy of its 60th birthday, Research Organics is regarded as a leading supplier of high-purity biochemicals.
"Joining Sigma-Aldrich is positive for Research Organics, our employees, customers and the city of Cleveland," said Rob Sternfeld, president of Research Organics, in a statement released by Sigma-Aldrich. "The acquisition provides the resources to expand the growth of our business, to enhance our product line and to upgrade our facilities to meet ever-changing industry requirements. We will continue to provide our customers with the superior quality and service they deserve and have come to expect."
The cost of the acquisition was not disclosed by Sigma-Aldrich in its release.
